Buying

Use our search page to browse listings by state, city, cemetery name, plot type, and price range. You can also use our interactive map to explore available plots near a specific location. Save your favorite listings and set up email alerts to be notified when new plots matching your criteria are listed.

Absolutely. We strongly encourage buyers to visit the cemetery and view the plot location in person before committing to a purchase. You can coordinate a visit with the seller through our in-app messaging system. Most cemeteries also have staff who can help you locate a specific plot.

We verify seller identity during registration and encourage sellers to provide documentation such as a deed or certificate of ownership. Before finalizing any purchase, we recommend requesting proof of ownership directly from the seller and verifying the information with the cemetery's administrative office.

Before purchasing, verify the plot location at the cemetery, confirm ownership with the cemetery office, understand the cemetery's transfer fees and policies, check for any right-of-first-refusal clauses, and review any ongoing maintenance fees associated with the plot.

Selling

After creating an account, click "List a Plot" from your dashboard. Fill in the details about your cemetery plot, including the cemetery name, location, section, lot number, plot type, and asking price. Add photos if available, write a description, and publish your listing. It will be reviewed and go live within 24 hours.

We recommend researching current prices at the same cemetery for comparable plots. Check the cemetery's current retail price for new plots and consider pricing yours 20-40% below retail to attract buyers. You can also browse similar listings on PlotListings to see current market pricing in your area.

Yes. You can create separate listings for plots at different cemeteries. Each listing should include the specific details for that particular plot. All your listings are managed from your dashboard.

When a buyer contacts you, you will receive an email notification and a message in your PlotListings inbox. Log in to your account to view and respond to messages. We recommend responding promptly to serious inquiries and being transparent about the plot details and your asking price.

Pricing

Your first listing is free for 30 days. After the trial period, a flat monthly subscription of $14.95 keeps your listings active. There are no setup fees, listing fees, or per-listing charges beyond the subscription.

No. We never take a commission or percentage of your sale price. Our business model is based entirely on flat-rate subscriptions. The price you negotiate with the buyer is entirely yours to keep.

Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Your listings will remain active through the end of your current billing period. After cancellation, your listings will be deactivated but not deleted, so you can reactivate them if you choose to subscribe again.

Transfers

Once a buyer and seller agree on terms, they work directly with the cemetery's transfer office to complete the ownership change. The typical process involves: (1) the seller submitting a transfer request to the cemetery, (2) both parties completing the cemetery's required transfer paperwork, (3) the buyer paying any transfer fees required by the cemetery, and (4) the cemetery issuing a new deed or certificate of ownership to the buyer.

Most transfers are completed within 2 to 6 weeks, depending on the cemetery's administrative process. Some cemeteries handle transfers quickly while others require board approval or additional documentation. We provide status tracking and checklists to help you stay on top of the process.

Most cemeteries charge a transfer fee that typically ranges from $50 to $500. This fee is separate from the purchase price and is usually paid by the buyer, though this can be negotiated between the parties. Contact the specific cemetery to confirm their current transfer fee.

Yes. All cemetery plot transfers must be processed through the cemetery's administrative office. Some cemeteries also have a right of first refusal, meaning they may choose to purchase the plot back at the agreed-upon sale price before allowing a third-party transfer. We recommend checking with your cemetery about their specific policies before listing.
